The Gaming Commission of Denmark (DGA) levied a penalty of DKK 10,000 (roughly $1,457) on a Twitch content creator for endorsing an unauthorized gaming platform during their live broadcast. This event signifies the initial instance of the DGA taking measures against a streamer for promoting illicit wagering operations.
The broadcaster, whose name remains confidential, was promoting a gaming enterprise not authorized to function in Denmark. The DGA filed a report with law enforcement regarding the streamer for breaching local regulations concerning gambling promotions. The police concurred with the DGA’s evaluation and imposed the DKK 10,000 fine.
This occurrence follows a recent declaration by the DGA stating that it had restricted 49 unlawful wagering sites during its yearly assessment.
Twitch has implemented measures to curb gambling advertisements on its platform, recently incorporating Blaze and Gamdom into its directory of prohibited websites. This action arises amidst heightened examination of the gaming sector, with even well-established firms like Betfair encountering disapproval for transgressing anti-money laundering protocols in Denmark. Betfair received three directives and a reprimand, mandating them to rectify the identified concerns within specified periods.
The streaming platform Twitch will no longer allow sites that feature wagering. The company states this move is intended to increase user safety, particularly for young people, and shield their viewers from possible negative consequences.
