France Cleans Up Its Sports Betting Act

The French gaming regulator (ANJ) is tidying up its rules, particularly for wagering on sports. Since 2010, they’ve maintained a roster of permitted sports and competitions for betting, but it’s become a tad chaotic lately. The ANJ acknowledged it had grown “challenging to comprehend and lacked uniformity.”

What’s the major shift? They’re eliminating a massive 179 events from the roster! Some are gone because they no longer exist, while others were removed due to a strong whiff of potential game manipulation. Imagine considering a wager on the Tunisian top-tier football league? Yep, the ANJ just spared you from that.

Others, like Armenia’s top football division, were simply dismissed for lacking sufficient renown or significance. How embarrassing.

In essence, the ANJ aims to ensure fairness and curb any dubious activities. They’ve trimmed the list to 772 events now, so select your wagers judiciously!

Recent modifications were made to France’s gambling rules. Although the language surrounding permissible wagers became more precise, it didn’t restrict betting choices. They simply restructured existing options into wider classifications.

Additionally, certain limitations on tennis and basketball wagering were removed. Previously, for instance, wagers on which basketball player would achieve 20 points or more were prohibited, but are now allowed.

These adjustments followed updates from the ANJ (France’s gambling regulator) regarding their evaluation of advertisements from gambling entities operating within the country.
